EILEEN FISHER KIOSK

Animated Prototype for Making Space

Why a kiosk?

Improve customer experience

We wanted to provide customers with detailed information about the events and services offered by the store. The Brooklyn Store was designed in concept to host a world of events with guest artists.

The kiosks are placed throughout the store to be easily accessed by customers on an as-needed basis. We wanted to educate the consumers on our events and have the ability to sign up for them through the device. This gives shoppers the choice of self-service by providing multiple touchpoints throughout the store where they can participate in these events — in tandem, alleviating the store associates.

Increase customer base

By placing kiosks at strategic locations, the user can go through the Artists’ bios, view full calendar of events, read about the history of the store/company, checkout places nearby, view a monthly editorial lookbook, and sign up for emails. This approach increases revenue opportunities by expanding the customer base which increases the potential for the company to sell more products. The kiosk was designed to play a vital role in creating a community within the brand.

ADA & Kiosk Industrial Design

The ADA requires that all new construction of places of public accommodation and commercial facilities be accessible. In considering a new kiosk deployment, we had to reconsider design of the casing to follow ADA guidelines. Initial blueprints of casing were not ADA compliant, so I had to make suggestions to the design of the case and modify based on guidelines.

Prototyping

Through business requirements (and inspiration from Houston’s NASA kiosks), I was able to compile a beautiful and easy interface. I wanted to create something interactive that included fun microinteractions that the user would enjoy. I created the animation for the prototype with Sketch and Principle.

Because we wanted something so specific and detailed, this prototype was sent to several different companies as part of the RFP package.
